I just bought a Dell Laptop for use on a boat. I am concerned about a couple of things. Salt air corrosion of connections and boards and shocks to the hard drive. There are specialized laptops for use on boats but they are expensive. These special "marinized" laptops claim to do several things. One mount hard drives on a shock absorbing mounting. Two coat boards to resist corrosion. Three install some kind of a desiccant.

Is anyone familiar with this type of equiptment? Is there anything that can be done to a production laptop to solve some of these problems? I have some ideas but I have no expertise in this area.

Thanks a lot for your help.
