I am hoping to make an mde file from my frontend mdb file but the option is grayed out/not even available from the menu. I am using Access 2002 but the database is Access 2000 format--I found this from the msdn website...

"Additionally, MDE and ADE files can only be created with Access 2002 when using the Access 2002 file format, not the default Access 2000 file format"

(
Is that it? Is there no hope of me being able to create an mde file using Access 2002?

Thanks,
tgikristi

Change your format on the mdb file to A2K2 format and you will be able to make an MDE.

You cannot create an MDE in Access XP unless the database format is A2K2.
