Hi, I'm having a bit of a BO designer problem and was wondering if anybody had come across it before.

Basically everytime I try to import a universe from a repository into designer i get the error message "Could not Import universe", if I try and export a universe into the repository i get a "Could not Export universe" error message.

Although this isn't stopping me working (the universes in question seem to be working ok in all other respects)it is stopping me from amending any of the universe objects/creating new universes.

I'm using Designer version 6.5 and have full client front end reporting... The repository is an access '97 dataBase, although I notice in supervisor that the connection is using an Access 2000 driver (can't imagine that this would have an impact though...)

Cheers for any help

Did you check the PAR on version 6.5 whether Access97 is supported as database for the repository?
I mean, we're talking about an ancient Access version.
Not surprised that version 6.5 offers no access through '97 drivers in that respect..

Just tried converting the repository to a later version of access, but still giving me same problem

Are you sure you have rights to export?

Don't forget, when you export, it moves the file to a different location on your disk. Could a UNV file that is locked already be in the same location?

Hi Steve,

I definitely have rights to export, I have full access to the drives concerned and I'm the general supervisor, have also tried a couple of spare log ons that I have that have full access rights...

How would I find if a UNV file is locked in thart location? Wouldn't have thought that it would have this kind of impact as I can't import or export any universes.. Or is this not the case?

Cheers for the help so far.

Andy

This is an operating system issue. Take the local .unv file and back it up somewhere else. Than try if an export is possible.
Did you ever try to attempt running scans on the repository through supervisor?
