"Access Denied" When adding a DC

After a couple of hours and help from some of you guys, thanks by the way, i have gotten a step further in adding a second DC to my AD Domain. I go through the whole DC PROMO wizard and when it gets to the end that it starts to add the AD i get this error message... Failed to modify the necessary properties for account SRVR2$ "Access is denied"

Please enter the username and password for a user with sufficent privileges to add domain controllers to the domain.


OK well at this point i used the domain administrator name and password and for som reason i still cannot get through.
Please help??

Are you using an Enterprise Admin account?

How would i know if i am????

Check under ad user and computers, click on the user and check "member of"
But your issue could be DNS related...
Did you get DNS working before you ran dcpromo?

Also make sure your primary dns suffix is enabled.
ie computername.domain.com
if you dont see domain.com that will cause most of your problems with dns.
