Hi all.

I'm new to the group but I've done tech support for two years so far and there are still questions that mystifiy me.
The question today is this:

Although I clean my DVD thoroghly, winding the cleaner one way then the other (50 reps each way) and I keep my resources low, the computer from time to time will just refuse to play the disc at a certain point. It gives me a blue screen and says the disc needs cleaning. Then the system corrupts and I have to reboot.

The machine's config is as follows:
Celeron 433 on a Asus P2BF motherboard.
256 PC 133 Dimm RAM
10 GB Fujitsu HDD
23 meg ATI Rage Fury Pro video card.
Sony DVD drive and Sony CDRW drive
Windows '98

Same disc?
Could be damaged...
Drive might need to be serviced.

Basically the system is telling you it lost its spot on the disc it was playing. Dirty drive maybe?

What else is running while you are playing the DVD?
