i am planning on using my own email server to help me run and offer emails to my customers in my webhosting business.I am not sure how to do this. I am runnin windows 2000 server and I am wondering whether to use an exchange server to run this?? Can anyone tell me the good points and the bad ones, or if i should even consider using exchange?

You should probably use a cheaper solution. Exchange is very expensive. I have a friend of my running hosting bussiness and he's running SLMail from Seattle Labs. Easy to script a solution to create new boxes and stuff.

so i should probably get the software that i was checking out earlier, its called Merak and it says it runs a mail server and offers pop mail and administration to other email accounts created in it. So i don't have to use exchange to run an email server, thanks for the help, if anyone else has any suggestions feel free to answer here.
