i am wondering what WAN interface card i would need for a Cisco 1605 R Router to connect it to an external cable modem via rj-45 cable. thanks,

If it's a cable modem, no wan wic is needed but a Fastethernet or ethernet I guess. Your cable modem has its own WAN link (coaxial cable) and your router will simply be on the LANs port of the modem. I guess you only will need a crossover cable and that be it.

cheers,

okay, so on the 1605 i can plug the cable modem into ethernet port 1 on the router, and the LAN that i want to provide access to into ethernet port 2?
