Hello,

I just wanted to know if i am right about this. You could only create a raid 5 volume in Windows 2000 Server, not in Windows 2000 Pro. Someone correct me if i am wrong, just making sure.

I've been looking at the ms kb, and can't find anything about not using on w2k pro. My copy of Inside Microsoft Windows 2000 Third Edition I got from ms talks about raid 5, but no mention of working only on servers. If someone has more info, it would be welcome. (Why not try it on a pro machine and see what happens?)

You are right.
RAID0 and RAID5 are not supported under Windows2k Professional.
Indeed, Windows 2k Prof. is supporting Dynamic Storage but as: dynamic volumes, spanned volumes, and strioed volumes. Gia Betiu

RAID0 and RAID5 are considered fault tolerant and Microsoft are supporting them just on Windows2k Server. Gia Betiu

Thanks for clearing it up. MS's manuals don't cover everything apparently. Glen A. Johnson
