Hello all,
I have a couple of questions, I just took over a sys admin position and Im currently looking at all the equipment and configs we have here. I have a 2610 router and a 2950 switch with the passwords enabled so I cant see the configs. No one here knows the passwords so....You can see my delema. I know how to disable the password by going to rommon and reseting the password, but I am paraniod about loosing the config. Is there a chance of loosing the config at all? Also will it work the same on the switch?

Thanks

Mel

Not at all, when you booy from password recovery, you are presented with a blank router, at this point you can then copy in the new config and reset the pwd and then save the new config, and your away, the pwd recovery is in the FAQ section, do ask any specific questions from here...

Just go to cisco site and search on password recovery, if you follow there instructions exactly you won't lose any configs , also a great learning experience if you plan on administering cisco gear.
