Is anyone aware of a shareware utility out there that would "record" what an installation program does, and report back the details, such as which files were installed where, what changes were made to the registry, etc?

Do a search for "RegSnap". RegSnap will alow you to take before and after snapshots of the registry and compare them. Not sure how to track files.

That looks neat, I'll give it a try. Unfortunately, I'm also hoping for something that would help record files installed to the hard drive as well...
