Question about Windows ME password dialog box?

I have a friend in his late 70s who is just now starting to use computers. Mostly just for E-Mail. His computer is an HP that has Windows ME as the operating system.

My question is about the password dialog box that appears every time the computer boots. You have to select the “Cancel” button to continue. No password is or has ever been used on this computer, can someone tell me how to bypass this box and just have the computer boot into Windows as my own computers always do?

Any help appreciated.
