I have a CPU which has FSB 400MHz, and I am planning to get a motherboard with FSB 533MHz. Are these two going to be ocmpatible? Will there be any negative effect on the motherboard since it would be forced to run at 400MHz? Thanks a lot for your help.
Since you didn't say which mobo... The mobo should have either 100 or 133 FSB speeds that you can chose from (most do since 533 is just coming out and most mfgs want to ensure compatibility). That way you can select the 100 x 4 = 400fsb in the bios. The only adverse effect would be that you're not utilizing the mobo to it's full potential by throttling it down to 100fsb rather than 133 x 4 = 533fsb.
