Hi,

we do incremental backups to a diskpool every night and for SQL databases several times a day.

Now we would like to configure a copy storage pool and copy disk data to our tape library.
We want to to put the tapes offsite every day.

Our problem: We keep files on the diskpool for one week.
But we would like to keep the data on tapes for about 4 weeks.

I know that retention time is configured in backup copy groups but is there way to configure the szenario mentioned above?

The problem is that we do not want to restore the TSM database for data i.e 3 weeks old just because we would like to use a tape library.

Is there a way to configure that?

As stated above, TSM only uses "Versions" not retention time. In order to accomplish this using retention time is using Archives.

Hi,

thanks for the quick answer.

So a storagepool and the associated copypool cannot have different settings for versions and days for keeping those versions right?

When I use archive jobs - I suppose these cannot be created from the diskpool like backupsets, right?
That would be an extra event causing traffic?

A Storagepool and Copy Storage Pool retain the same info and do not have different settings.

For the 2nd question, you are correct.
