Hi All,

I have a query about SIP OPTIONS and B-Channels with a STMIX.

It is easier to explain with an example.
Today, we were doing some maintenance work on the Cisco SBC (CUBE) connected to an STMIX.
We performed a polite shutdown on the CUBE which automatically sets the SIP OPTION responses to be out of service and refuse any new connections.
I am aware that a number of SIP OPTION down messages are needed to the state to change.
The SIP profile on the STMIX is set to use OPTION PINGS and we can see OPTION PINGS in the Cisco Debugs.

However, when monitoring the B Channels for the STMIX using DIS-BUEND:,B; the B channels stayed in a state of free.
This is despite the last active call taking some time to clear.
We left situation for several minutes but the channels remained free.

Should the B-Channels on the STMIX not have gone into a state of OTHER ?

In the end, we manually DEAC-DSSU the B channels and reactived after the maintenance.

Thoughts anyone?

In the old days I would 'courtesy down' the B channels on the HiPath side

DEA-DSSU
DC,PEN,
Then DIS-BUEND:,B;
To see the channels going down gradually waiting for users to end calls in progress.
