I have two linked tables in my access database.
They are from our finance Sybase database and are the WIP table and a Table called TransControl (where the times go before they are posted)

I have written a UNION query for a handful of the fields.
When I runt he Union query, the results are returned very quickly, but as soon as I use the Query Design view, and specify criteria, the query takes forever to run.

It is reading hundreds of thousands of rows.

I'm planning on using this query to retrieve financial information for projects.
I will be linking a project list table from Microsoft Project, which has about 400 projects in it - and retrieving the finance information for each of these - but as soon as I try to link the union or put criteria on it - it just slows to halt...

any suggestions?

You may try to not use the Query Design Grid but the SQL view and write yourself the WHERE clause.

Hope This Helps, PH.
