When running queries in QA, i noticed my OS drive was filling up. when i was done, the disk space was released.

Where can i see this temp space? can anyone explain what is happening here?

Thank you,
Steve

you will see growth of the log and data files - it depends on what you are doing - for example if you are creating a temp table this is in effect a proper table with data in it so needs space until it is dropped or goes out of context.

I guess i should have mentined this.

I am running QA on Machine A and connected to Machine B. Machine A is the one filling up with space.

Steve

what exactly are you doing ? this will give us an idea as to what is going on.

I am doing a large insert. Do inserts that are large us disk space on the machine you are executing the commands from?

Just to make sure I am clear.

Server A: The server where I have SQL Client tools and ran the query.

Server B: The server where SQL server exists.

Thank You, for any insight
