Query Analyzer question

Using SQL Server 7.0 ,
The query analyzer is no longer returning any rows
when I run a query in Text mode ...no text... no error
messages etc ....If i change to Grid mode ..i get data
but still no error messages displayed if the query fails.

This is a big problem ....and i cant find
the property that affects this...why screen output is
being turned off
Any help would be appreciated
