SQL 2K. SP1 until 2 days ago now SP2.
WIN2K SP2.
512 mb ram. Max memory already set to 309.
Development box.
No applications involved. Procedures are executed directly from Query Analyzer.
Im the only one using this machine.
I have one proc in particular that, when running properly, takes 1 minute and fifteen seconds. Doesnt use more than the allocated memory.
Sometime however, at about 1 minute, the memory will start plumiting all the way down to 5mb. The result set begins to appear slowly on the screen. Proc take almost 4 minutes.
A few things to note.
Say my first open Query Analyzer causes this problem. When I close the screen that the exec was on, the memory will shoot up. However, it will all continue to happen in every screen until I open up a whole new QA. (Start/programs/SQL/QA)
I can have 2 different open QA's (not just 2 connections in the same QA, but 2 different QA's) and have one cause the problem and the other not. No matter how many screens I open in the bad QA it will continue to happen. Same with the good QA.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
