I am creating a report that has two groups. First group is the customerID second is date by Quarter. This part totals my order dollars by quarter. Here is the problem. I added a subreport to show the quoted dollars per quarter as well and linked it by customer. What is happening is the subreport is displaying every quarter for the quotes for each quarter of order dollars. So basically the quote dollars repeat 4 times. How can I link the subreport so quarter one for order dollars and quote dollars print together in the same detail section?

I assume you mean "in the same Group Footer section".

In any case, you must be already linking the subreport based on Customer ID. Simply add Year and Quarter links.

How would I go about doing that? The linking dialog doesn't give me the option to link the quarterly groupings that I have created.

You need to create formulas (one for Year and one for Quarter) and use them as links.

Not really working for me. I get an error telling me that linking the formula fields can't be done because they need to be evaluated later. Any idea?

A bit vague. Provide the exact text of the formulas.

Well I wasn't sure how to write a formula that calculated the quarter, but since the Quarter values of 1/2003, 4/2003 etc... are all in the group header as part of the group name. I thought I could just set a formula equal to the groupname. Since both the subreport and master both had the same groupname fields I thought I would Link those. That is what caused the error.

YEAR({your_date_field}) would give you the Year.

DatePart('q', {your_date_field}) would give you the Quarter.
