I recently HAD to start using Quark at a client's request. All was well and fine until Friday when it started crashing on me. I redid the file Saturday (thinking something had gotten corrupted) and then Monday it started all over again. By Tuesday evening I was able to finally send out the proof to the client (23 hours late) but am loathe to open the file again until I can resolve the crashing issue.

Any thoughts?

Why are you using 7.01? Can't you do any better?

I am currently downloading the updgrade for 7.3 as in the span of starting this project (1 week ago) I've gone from 7.0 to 7.1. We'll see how it goes...

Hi 811artdirector
Look in your QuarkXpress folder and see if there is a Preferences folder, if not then put one there and make sure you spell it "Preferences".
When I installed 6.5 that folder did not get installed, I don't know if that is the case with 7.1 but won't hurt to check.
Hope this helps

There are definitely issues with preferences in 7.x.

Make sure you refresh/delete them if there are still problems.

There is extensive discussion of preferences in 7.x on the Quark forums...

I found that quark 7.3 has eliminated many issues, like crashes and PDF creation problems. It seems to be working well.
