Has anyone used QuarkXClusive with a HP Indigo press yet? I just can't get it to work. I got a brand new Mac G5 running OS X Panther, and the first thing I installed was a brand new copy of Quark 6. Next, I downloaded QuarkXClusive and installed it. After that, Quark took 2 to 4 attempts to start up, and any time I tried to create a job, the RIP reported an error.

I can get files through on Quark 5 using YTD, so it's not the RIP, and the JLT files created in QuarkXClusive are significantly smaller in size to those produced in YTD, so I suspect it's not creating the files correctly. Quark "Tech Support" gave me a few pointers that solved the crashing problem (eventually), but it still doesn't create jobs correctly. Tech support haven't returned my emails in about 5 days, and I can't find any similar problems on Google. Anyone any ideas?

Hi Blueark,
I'm sorry I don't really have an answer for you. I hadn't even heard of XClusive. I was more curious if there is much of a difference between it and YTD. For the most part we are still using Quark 5 and YTD, but there is a version 6.1 of YTD for Quark 6. We have it installed on one mac but haven't really tested it thoroughly yet. It can be downloaded here.

We use Quark 6.1 and YTD on a G5 panther as well as Quark 5 and YTD on a G4 OS9. Our Quark 6 machine is fairly new, but it seems that it operates about the same as the older versions and machine. If you continue to have problems, why not use YTD for Quark 6? Could you fill us in more about the advantage of Xclusive or what it does different.

Thanks for that. I didn't realise YTD was available for Quark 6. We were given the impression that QuarkXClusive was the replacement for it. It's almost identical to YTD, so I never even questioned it! I don't have a login, so I'll have to wait for the operator to download it tomorrow, but thanks again.

As a side note... I just received an email from HP-Indigo regarding Quark 6.5. They have stated that YTD DOES NOT work with 6.5 HP is currently working on a version of YTD that will work with 6.5. At this time YTD works with Quark 6 and 6.1
