Quark is running slow and keeps crashing, and I think that maybe I should trash the preferences (because that's what I've read here before).

I don't know what I'm doing, though, and hope someone can explain to me exactly what to do and maybe also explain why it helps.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi tangerinewoman
Which version of Quark and which computer are you running.
I'm running Quark 6.5, and if you trash the Preferences in the Quark folder you have to open the Preferences folder and trash the contents, because when I installed Quark from the CD it did not install a Preferences Folder, I had to put that in myself and then when I launched Quark it filled it up.
Hope this helps

I'm using 6.5 on a brand new G5 (new computer being a perk of a new job).

Should I go to library > preferences > Quark and trash all those files? Slightly worried about having to go begging to our IT guy to reinstall it all if I do something wrong...

Hi tangerinewoman
I'm running OS 10.4.7 with Quark 6.5 and I just looked in Library Preferences at the Quark folder and it is empty.
Look in your Quark 6.5 folder and see if there is a Preferences folder there, if not then then put one there and and name it exactly Preferences, then relaunch Quark and it will fill up.
Also start a new project and draw a box and see if you can choose Yearbook frame style.
Let me know if this helps
