I just got quark 6 and the first thing I can't seem to locate anywhere is the picture subscriber box. You know, the dialog box that pops up when you double-click on a picture when you are at the content/text tool and it lets you open the picture in the publisher appliation (such as Photoshop) and edit it, then update it. In general it controls picture links.

I found someting in the item-modify menu, the OPI thing which lets you update the picture link, but it doesn't let you open the original picture in the publisher application.

I can't live without that dialog box. My publication hundreds of pictures that need to be resized at the last moment before I sent to the printshop. This will cost me one-two days' work!

Any suggestions?

Go to versiontracker.com and download Badia OpenNow XT. It's an xtension for Quark 6 but it my be for mac only. It works really well.

Wow, I wish I'd known about that before! I found this on the Quark Web site, looks like it's only for Macs:

Download Edit Original 6.0
Edit Original is a QuarkXTensions™ module for QuarkXPress™ and QuarkXPress Passport™ software on Mac OS, that allows you to open pictures with a default application and update modified pictures. Edit Original is a replacement for the Open Publisher command provided by the Subscriber Options dialog box found in QuarkXPress 5 and earlier.

Thanks, to both.

I'll try these links and report back.
