I've re-installed Quark and downloaded all of the current upgrades, to 4.11. I try to open the application and it frezzes the computer and I have to resart. I've also ran Norton Utilities but it finds no problems. I'm working on Mac OS 9 . I can operate all other applications fine but no Quark. Is any one out there who has encountered these same problems? - Very Frustrated -

Have you tried running with just the basic xtensions in the xtension folder?

What happens if you bootup holding down the Shift key, so no extensions load, then run Quark! If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

Firstly, trash the preferences folder from your QuarkXPress folder. This will mostly solve problems of having crash.
Secondly, try to disable XTensions becoz there might be a conflict between XTensions. If this solves, then next time try disable a few set of XTensions to find out which XTEnsion is causing the problem.

The first thing you can do is to delete the XPress Preference file from the QuarkXPress folder and try launching QuarkXPress. If it launches then the problem was with your Xpress preference file.

If that doesn't work then try disabling your Xtensions in your QuarkXPress folder one by one and then try launching the application. This way you'll come to know which Xtension(s) is creating the problem.

You could try the same procedure with the system Xtensions by pressing the shift key when you boot up your computer. This would disable all your system Xtensions and you can try enabling the XTensions one by one. You will be required to reboot your computer everytime you enable or disable your system xtensions.
