QIC Tape Drive- Installation

Hi all,
I'm running FreeBSD 6 on a very old computer that originally was running Windows 98 and it's equipped with a serial tape drive (on same cable as floppy drive). Can anyone advise on how to use this tape drive? Or assign a dev to it? The documentation is pretty sketchy.
