We recently upgraded an option 61c cppiv from release 4.5 to release 5.0 admin1 username and password remained the same and also pdt2, however admin2 username and password no longer works. Can the password be reset using the same procedure for 4.5 or is there a way through pdt to recover this. while in pdt I did find accounts.r45 and in there it lists admin1,admin2,pdt1,pdt2,and admin but it is in hex and hash format any ideas?

Passwords are encrypted with rls 5, no way to retrieve it.
You can only reset it the same way rls 4.5 (you may know how....as i can see)

Rlse 5.0 now uses a much stronger Hash encryption than was in Rlse 4.5. In 4.5, it was possible to view the Account names. This is no longer possible!.

Had the same problem with an 81c. Password was still good had to log on in caps ADMIN2

Yes, its a Capslock issue. The password and user is correct, but has to be enterd in the right way.

Try to enter User ID and Password in different ways, lower and upper case.

Not to be confusing, but Nortel stated on the upgrade course in maidenhead that the pdt1 and 2 passwords would be reset to default values when upgrading to Rls 5. Does anyone now this by fact???

I've played with the beta rlse 5 version and I found that pdt2 is still the same, except that you now have to add in a name first. I don't know the default password for pdt 1, but it should be changed anyway. The most important thing to note is that the system administrator can now assign an account user access to either pdt1 or pdt2 (or not at all!) within the PWD account section.

Not to sure if the PDT passwords are set to default or not, but be aware release 5 uses a pdt username and password combination, when using rlogin tools such as putty it tends not to work on the first attempt, second one you can get in....

will check this weekend, have a beast of one to upgrade 8 sig servers 32 m'cs arghhhhh
