We have some Nortel 1000E's in out network. Currently we use procomm to dial up these sites. I want to ethernet into an admin session but we do not have TM. Does anyone know what product i can use or how I can ethernet access these switches ?

you can still use procom to telnet to an ip if you have serial to ip interface units at each switch.. or you can connect direct to the ip from any cisco router..

can i use putty teraterm or telent with procomm using the ip address of the otm ?

scm-16 Secure Console Manager is a nice product by wti Western telematic inc. 16 tty ports can be on and secure ip access to them.

best i've seen was a serial interface on a cisco router.. worked great and we could use access list to allow just the ip's we wanted to have access... but i do not use otm, ever for anything... if i wanted slower changes and dumber techs, then i would be mister tm...

i never use otm to make M.A.C 's i always use procomm and the Command line but we wanna get rid of modems for security reasons and the only reason we use otm for the CDR

Use any telnet client that is rlogin capable.

You are going to need to keep them handy for remote support. Just unplug the dial tone until needed.

PuTTY works and it is free. SecureCRT also works. As stated above any client that can do rlogin. You would initiate a rlogin session to the elan address of the call server and be sute you have PTYs programmed and available.

but guys can i use the ip address of the otm ???
and on a option 61 can i use putty secure crt to access mermail ???

Sure if you have an OTM, easiest thing to do is:

Install VNC Server on OTM server.

Install VNC Client on your desktop.

Connect to OTM server via VNC.

Use the Virtual Terminal Emulator in OTM to access your PBX's.

As long as your OTM has access to each of the PBX's Elans, you'll be just fine.

so tnphoneman and the others who use PuTTY..
I downloaded it and run a session to the elan call server address and I get a login: prompt
whats next???

login like you would your terminal
