I asked our regular vendor for 20 more additional VM licenses for our Callpilot Server/CS1000 4.0 and got this as a quote:

---
"I have attached a quote for 20 mailbox expansion w/ release 5.0 upgrade. You put upgrade to 5.0 in order to add mailboxes."

Multimedia Mailbox/Voice-20 ~$1400
3.0/3.0 to 5.0 IPE Upgrade Pkg ~2100
CP Upgrade Code (NO CHARGE)
201iDisk Upgrade Kit ~$465
r3.0 to R5.0 Upgrade Fee (100 units) ~$1500
Freight = ~$85
Installation + Training ~2,885
TOTAL ~$8500
---

Does anyone else see some of this as bullsh*t? I'm pretty sure we can handle the CP upgrade code ourselves... and not even sure we really need it. I just want 20 voicemail licenses. Any thoughts?

I would discuss this with your vendor, you aren't telling us what release your CP is. When products go MD or EOL, you cant purchase s/w anymore

you can get quote from other vendors OR get that one explained.. you can do the upgrade, it's not that hard. but if something fails, if your not certified, your about 10 seconds away from voiding a warrenty.. nortel is a pain when it comes to tech support..

Thanks folks. I suppose we're on an old model... V 03.03.06.03. I'll get an explanation from the vendor and shop around for better quotes.

Version 3 is not that old. It runs Windows Server 2003 Appliance. It may not be activally supported but you should still be able to purchase licenses. I still obtain licenses for 2.02 on NT for some accounts .NT (2.02) users are the ones that really need to consider upgrading. Now there were some problems with release 3 so it was short lived but if your not having problems there is really no reason to upgrade unless you want to stay in the latest and greatest.

i just bought lic for rls 3, i don;t think the total problem here is nortel
