I want to reformat and load Windows 2000 Server. It won't boot from CD or floppy and I can't get into the BIOS. It has this Intel Boot Agent 2.2 that comes up when I boot. I can get into the boot agent but doesn't seem to have have any options that help me. I just want to start over with this machine. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Robert Peterson

dogerto,

what type of server are you using? dell, ibm, compaq, hp, etc... have you got the owner's manual? you may need to reset the bios...

if you're in Dallas, I'd volunteer to come over and fix it for you for the glory...

but if you want help here, you'll need to be a bit more specific... ;-) Setnaffa is an MCSE-4.0 (working on W2K) with a few other certs, too...

Hi,

Since you bought a used system, you may not have the
user manuals.
The user manual for Intel Boot Agent is in the support
pages of You may want to have a quick look
at it.

Can you see "Boot order" in the Boot agent setup menu?
If yes, this option might help "Try local drives first, then network".

Another option is you can try removing the network card
and see if it can boot form floppy or CD.
(The flash ROM of the network card has the image)

These utilities from Intel support site might also help.
I have'nt used them.
Software & Drivers
Boot Agent [PROBOOT.EXE]
Intel® Boot Agent Configuration Utility [PROUTIL.EXE]

Regards,

Ram
