publisher keeps old content of file, even after save

Strange problem,
I have a pub file that I use as a base template.
I modify the file and save it. This is ok on my PC.
When I now send this file via mail, the old content is still there.
The same happens when I export the data as a word document.
It is clear that publisher retains the old stuff, but how can we make sure the old content is erased ?

Hello,

Can you tell us what version of Publisher you are running? Also, tell us exactly what steps you are taking here. You have a template (I'm assuming you open it natively and create a new instance) and you want to email it.. this is where it gets fuzzy for me. Tell us the exact steps you have taken.
