I have created a website and registered a domain name now I need the two to meet. Can someone suggest a tool that will allow me a quick and easy upload. I have created this site in Publisher but I can't understand how to use it for upload. There asking for server names and things of that nature which I don't know.

Thanks alot for the help..Russ

After registering a Domain name you next need to find a host server for it. Then you can use an FTP [File Transfer Protocol] program such as WS_FTP or CuteFTP to transfer your page/s onto the server. That's where you get assigned the names, permissions, passwords, etc.

The server your Domain is hosted on could be your ISP or a firm that specializes in hosting. You don't have a distance limit as to where the host server is when using FTP, just have to get access to the server.

You could set up a server in your home but you still need your ISP involved to assign a static IP address and probably need a hardware firewall/router along with an always-on connection. Can't connect directly to the backbone of the 'net.
