Public profile change doesn't work

I need to change how other people see my e-mail address.
Now it is my name.
I went to Tools-Windows messenger-Options
In Public there was EditProfile button, when I clicked it
said it needs to install Add-Ins, which i did and
rebooted too.
Now I am clicking EditProfile and it is searching for the
webpage which is 'unavailable" Please, help.

OK, I signed to MSN Messenger and now I can change my name but it doesn't change how people see it.
Line FROM still shows my full name

Are we talking about MSN Messenger? This really isn't an e-mail issue, but you should find what you're looking for under Tools, Options, Personal tab, My display name.
