Hello Gang,
We've recently set up a public folder for sharing messages, and notes. My problem is that when a message is delivered the folder does not reflect the fact that a new message has been received. For example when I receive a message in my inbox, the folder name "Inbox" is bold followed by a
Parenthesis with a number that indicates the quantity of unread messages.

I would like to replicate this behaviour for our public folders. This problem seems to surface with all of our users.

Also is it possible to move the public folder so that it is better accessable?
It is a confusing process for my end users to have to select:
"Folder List" and then expand "Public Folders" then "All Public Folder" then locate our destination folder.

Is there way to make the public folder (or a shortcut, path etc) sit closer to the Inbox folder within outlook?

Yes - in Oulook 2003 (or maybe XP?) and higher, make the Public Folder a 'Favorite'. Right-click the Public Folder in the tree and choose 'Add to Favorites'.

The folder will then be added to the 'Favorites' folder for the user, which is at the same level as the public folder root. It will also show the number of unread items, just like an Inbox.

There are extended options to even add all subfolders, and dynamically add newly created subfolders.

Thanks for the assistance. As for the location of the favorites or public folder is it possible to move them closer to our end users inbox? Are shortcuts available?

I don't believe you can do that without some plugin programming in VBS...

There will be user expectation/training at SOME point for any public folder use...
