Public Folder Replicas

I'm upgrading my server using the Ed Crowley method. When I select a public folder to replicate to the new server, the items vanish from my outlook (2000) client. They are there in the public folder resources of the old server (Total K, and Total no. items), but are not visible in outlook until replication occurs.

Whats going on???
