I have the problem whereby one time i set up an additional PST folder and then deleted the file in explorer now i can not get rid of the Personal Folder in Outlook. WHen i try to close the folder i get the message "the operation failed. An object could not be found."
I have since recreated the folder & file (by copying & pasting & renaming one). however i still get the error.
i ran scanpst.exe & there were no errors.

how can i remove these.

Try creating a new Outlook profile. It sounds like your profile is corrupted.

but how do i delete the personal folder from the folders list in outlook

I suspect that if you create a new profile, the pst file won't be listed anymore.

how do i create a new profile. i cant seem to find that option. or do you mean create an new personal folders file PST.
i tried to create a new personal folders file and it created a new folder. however, this does not get rid of the other pst folders in the folder list.

No, you can create a new profile & set it to use the existing .pst file. You don't specify what OS or what version of Outlook, but you should be able to work with the profiles something like this:

Control Panel, Mail (need classic view if using xp), Show profiles button, Add a new one and set Outlook to start with the new one. You will need to setup your services again. If this cures the problems, go back & delete the bad profile.

i am using Windows ME & outlook 2000
how do i set outlook to start with the new profile.
& do i have to restart the cpu

I'm not sure if it's exactly the same with Me, but at the bottom of the mail pofile dialog (where you add the new profile), there should be a drop-down list that says something like: 'When starting MS Outlook, use this profile'.

i am sorry but it does not have that option. the mail dialog box only has 1 tab called Mail & within that there is nothing that has anything that indicates which profile to use. It does allow you to set the new one as the default though. however this did not fix the problem.

Try editing your profile from within OL. It's on the Tools menu, Services. It should be listed as Personal Folders. You should be able to click to select the Personal Folders, then click the Remove button.
