How do you make a pseudo tty on a quad paddle board. everytime I type (new pty) @ the adan prompt I get a sch code that has no meaning. Two other ports are already built and the card type is SDI4. Do I have to have another card and tag it pty or is there a way to make the other two ports pty.
thanks

A PTY doesn't get built on a paddle board. It is a pseudo or a phantom TTY port.

I thought you had to have a hardware port to assign a pty even though you don't use it.

post is right, you need an unused device number.. (interupt).. unless my mind goes blank tomorrow, i'll try and post a soft tty.. painless after the 1st one

List your ADAN devices (Dchannels and TTY ports). If you have more than 15 and you are pre 25.40B than you are out of luck. If on 25.40B then you can have 15 per Network group.

If you have a device number available then you would build in ld 17. New ADAN pty, then follow the prompts.

I can't believe I'm still up this late.

CHG
ADAN NEW TTY xx
CTYP PTY
PORT 0 for the first one then port 1, 2, 3...for additionnals PTYs

you do have to start all adan commands with the chg command, then at the adan prompt, new pty.. you just need an unused device number

REQ: chg
TYPE adan
ADAN new pty 7

then the device number, port and user prompts are the same as any other tty.. that command is a little unique because the FOLDER ADAN is built in the boot sequence, giving you the core tty's..

At ADAN prompt you have to give: new tty xx not pty. That answer comes later at CTYP prompt.

Thanks for all the replies

It is working great.
