If you have proxy on one server, Exchange on another and uninstall proxy client from the Exchange server will it still get external email?

if you uninstall proxy client from Exchange server the proxy server will stop listening on port 25(i,e SMTP)Hence mails will stop coming into exchange server

But proxy is on a seperate server
