Protection on attachments

Hello Everyone

I have a user who recieves attachments in Outlook that the only way he is able to make edits to them is to detach them and save them locally on his harddrive make the edits and then reattach them to an email. Is there a setting somewhere that I can set for him so he will be able to make edit to the attachment without have to detach it first. Thanks for any help you can provide.
