I am working with Word 2002, and I need to protect part of a document. I want to create a request list, similiar to example:

Date –

Vendor –

Requested By –

Machine –

Model Number –

Serial Number –

Parts Number - Quantity –

And I want the above to be protected, and the user to type the information in the line next to it. For the last line, I'd like Parts # and Quantity to be on the same line. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Search the help for
"Create forms that users complete in Word"
and that should take you through it.

I'd suggest you consider using a form in Excel instead. That way all orders can be compiled in a table, allowing you to easily run reports on activity.

"I want to create a request list..."

I agree with John. Word is, guess what, a WORD PROCESSOR. Excel is a SPREADSHEET application, perfect for LISTS and TABLES.

Be sure to check out Excel's HELP on Lists & Tables so that you don't paint yourself into a corner and have to do heroic things to manipulate your data.

I have a suggestion that may or may not be possible in your situation: forget Office and use a web form.

Thank you for your suggestions!
