Protect only "Form" part of document (MS Word 2002) 1

I have a document I'm trying to put together using MS Word 2002. In the top fifth of the document, I have a table structure, containing some fill-in forms ("Name", "Date", etc.). In the bottom 4/5 of the document, I have no real formatting, but I do have section header names ("Requirements", etc.). The point of the form is for the user to be required to fill in "Name", "Date", etc., using the fill-in forms that are provided and then go down to "Requirements", and just type whatever they want, formatting their "requirements" however they wish. Apparently, I need to "protect" the forms to get them to work. When I protect the forms, Word does not allow me to enter any information onto the document other than in the forms. My question: How do I get around this? Can I protect just part of the document? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. Make continous section breaks before and after the area that has your forms. Make that section, and that section only, protected.

OR

2. Have the user input the required information through a VBA UserForm, take that information and put it into fields (say a text formfield), and lock that formfield by removing "Fill-in enabled." in the Properties.

Sounds like #1 is close to what you are looking for - yes, you can protect pieces of a document.
