Proper way to do Table of Content formatting

Hi,

I would like to do a nice TOC with the dotted lines leading to the page number.

ex:

Page
Chapter 1............... 2
Chapter 2...............35

What is the proper way to format something like this? As it is now, I have left-aligned text and am using a style sheet to generate the dot characters in between. But I would like to have the page numbers right-aligned as well.

Now that I checked things, my Fill Character is not taking. I enter it, hit OK and nothing happens. When I edit the style sheet again, the Fill Character field is blank.

Put a tab after "Chapter" , then in your formats window under the "Tab" section put a "right tab" in where you want it, And in the fill character bit put a dot.

In quark6 there is a feature which generate the Table of Contents for you.

But going by your example. the first option would be quicker.

That is what I was trying, but the info is still not taking. Strange.

I took a look at the Index window and am not sure where to begin. I guess I'll just have to play around with it more. (!)

No, it's under edit>lists.
you select which heading levels in which order etc. and then under
window>show list you "Build" it.

But the formats should work, strange.
I just did it then, does it work if you just do one line instead of using the style sheet?
