Proper Secure Certificate Usage

I have a secure certificate for my website. I have the certificate up and running in my ecommerce application at my
I am developing a new version of my ecommerce site and want to use the certificate in my development on the same domain but with a different subdomain, testsite.domain.com on a seperate IP address.

I read that you can only have one website per certificate. How does this apply to my scenario?
