I have Crystal Enterprise installed on the server. When I try to view any report, the Web Viewer(ActiveX viewer) flash(appear and then disappear really quick) then a File Download window appears and ask if I want to download the file or open the file from the location. I already checked the CE Application Mappings in IIS and it was set according to an article from the Seagate site. I think it has to do with the timimg setting somewhere because the ActiveX viewer is flashing for a brief moment then the file download window popup. Do you have any idea? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I installed CE8 on another server and it is working fine???

I've had something similar. In my case, I had the same thing happen when I tried to view a report as Excel. When I tried to view a report as Rich Text, I received a prompt to download a .cwr file. Check out the following article from Crystal Decisions:
There's another article that describes similar behavior, but that is attributed to IIS:
Hope this helps!

Rhinok,

Thanks for your response. I already checked article c2010922 that's how I know that CE mapping was corrected in IIS. The first article doesn't apply to my situation. There is some setting on the server that I need to change. I installed CE8 on the development and the QA server. The reports are working fine on the QA server but not on the Development server. I just don't know what to look for.

I don't know alot about CE but when we just had CR on an intranet server....if a user did not have CR installed on their machine then they were asked to download a viewer to thier machine to see the report...is that what is happening here? Jim

Jim,
That's how it is supposed to work. In my case, I know that the latest ActiveX viewer is present on my workstation because I was able to run all reports on the QA server and I also have CR 8.5 installed as well. The reports on both servers are identical. Same DSN (DSN pointed to the appropriate DB instance for each server). I event try to run the report on Development server (the one gave me problem) and it asks me to download the file or open from the location. Thanks for your input. Any others suggestion?
Thanks

We re-installed CE8 on the development server and it did not fix the problem. Is there document out there that I can use to troubleshoot this problem? Thanks for any input.
