I have 2 reports, each is based on a seperate query which prompts for criteria needed to get the correct records. One report is the Main report and the other is a subreport. When I open the main report it prompts for the criteria for the main report, then it prompts multiple times for the criteria for the subreport. If I go to the query and put the actual criteria in the query instead of having it prompt me for it the report works fine. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening and how I can fix it?

For each iteration through the queries the reports are based on Access will prompt you for the parameter(s). You can reduce this somewhat by defining the parameter in the Query's parameter property. This will not help with your problem. Your best bet is to create an unbound form with the necessary unbound controls for capturing the parameter(s) and let it "pass" the parameter(s) to your reports.

i.e. where you now have the parameter(s) replace it with:

Forms!FormName!ControlName
