Hi

I am trying to generate a free hand SQL report.
I need the List of Values for a prompt to be selected from a Universe's Object.

If I specify 'Item Details/ItemID' in the Lov parameter. It throws an error. Here I need to specify the Universe too.

Is there anyway that I could specify the List of values of a universe for particular object.

Thanks in Advance,
Shoot

Steve has already summed it up... But if you still want to use then one workaround is to use the universe and modify the sql and use the object.. Again this cud be real pain since you need to have that many objects to modify the SQL...

Hi
I didn't get you Sridharan. You mean, I need to create a report using the Universe and then modify the SQL?

Thanks in Advance,
Shoot

That's what he means. You just have to be careful.

If your required query returns 10 columns, you would need to build a query in the panel that has 10 objects in it.

You could then modify the SQL (don't forget to check the "Do Not Regenerate SQL" box). Then your @prompt would work.

Again Steve has summed it... Yes you need to create the report using the Universe which will be a dummy one... You use it only for the sake of getting Dynamic LOV from Unv Objects and then you modify the SQL... The tricky part is to have that many objects in the QP as your SQL might have...

Well I was basically stressing that the report has to built using Universe(Shoot asked for) which you've missed in your post and then one needs to modify the SQL like you described or detailed my reply to him... Hmmm is there any wrong in doing so.... If so sorry Mr. Steve...
