I was looking a buying USED a PrologiX system but I have a few Questions.


1- Would I be able to Register they system with Lucent?
2- How hard would it be to add ports? (USER RIGHTS)
3- If I need service would this be a problem?

1) You can register it, but Avaya will make you purchase all of the RTU which is active on the PBX. Most the time, this will be more expensive than if you bought the switch new from them.
2) Without being registered, you wont be able to buy/activate any additional RTU.
3) Without being registered, Avaya won't service it but there are many 3rd parties who will.

Avaya has gone to great lengths to make purchasing a used Avaya PBX a loosing proposition. If it comes with the passwords, has the RTU you need, you never want to upgrade or add features, and you don't need Avaya support, it may be a good deal for you. Unfortunately, that's not the case for most people. -CL

There are Avaya business partners all over the place. Look for a few in your area and get them to compete over the business.
