I have three switches in Qwest territory and two in Southwestern Bell. Each is experiencing a drop in volume when a three-way conference link is established. It happens with both local and LD calls. We have local GS trunks and use AT&T for LD. Qwest, SWB, & AT&T each claims their equipment is not the cause. I suspect it might be the PBX; Avaya says it is a Telco problem. Has anyone else experienced any similar problems? If yes, how did you resolve it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

what you could do is give the command display system-parameters country-options and see if you find anything there that states End-to-End total loss (dB) in a n-party conference:
that is what it is called on my R10 (and it is on page 2)

Play arround with it and see what you think. Please let me know if the information that was provided is helpfull.

I found the “End-to-End total loss (dB) in a n-party conference:” parameter. Unfortunately, my software permissions will not allow me to make changes to the system-parameters country-option. Any other suggestions you or anyone else may have would be greatly appreciated.

It's definately a PBX issue if the trunks work fine for everything but conferencing. The LEC has no obligation for transmission levels bridged within CPE equipment. Europe is most likely correct. You could call Avaya and tell them you hired an engineer to evaluate the situation who recommended europe's suggestions, or pay the $50-$200 to increase all of your login permission levels. -CL

You could play with the loss group on the stations or the trunks. You can adjust levels in the change system country to tweek low trunks. Hope this helps

Thanks
Chris
