Project Management Software

MS Project sells more than all its competitors combined. There's a reason for that: it works well and handles almost everything you can think of.
Be aware, though, that project management software is not "install and use". Word, of course, is (it is, after all, merely a text editor with some formatting). Project needs its users to take some training and then use it and become comfortable with the rigor it imposes on schedule development and maintenance.
