Progress Bar

From within Access 97 I've found the progres control but have no idea about how to code it so that it works correctly.

I open another form and the data source of this form is a query which takes a little while to complete.

Has anybody got any ideas about how to know what the query is doing so that it emulates this on the progress bar?
