Hi all, i have an HP Notebook running win xp pro and when you open up programs like IE or Laserfiche they immediatley close agin, if you open wordpad or control panel they are ok, i have scanned this for a virus and spyware and all seems ok, if the machine is started in safe mode then the programs work fine, any ideas ?????

Probably some common dll that has got corrupted. Check your path. WHere is it looking for your DLLs.

If you are a developer, there is a program called depends.exe in Visual studio. Use depends on the programs that are failing. Have a look at which dlls they are picking up and where they are picking them up from.

You could try running System File Checker and see if this will help. Open a command prompt and type sfc /scannow. You may need the Windows XP Pro disk.
